welcome to brb crying, a newsletter where two thirty-something teenagers talk about what made them cry. laugh along as we dive into what moves us to tears (movies! books! personal stories! tbh anything is fair game!) and why crying helps us connect with ourselves and each other. check out the pod for more.
💌 dear diary reader
in this week’s episode—030: when jerry met tally / blessings on blessings—we hang out with two of our favorite Jerrys: Jerry & Tally, a heartwarming elderly figure skating couple, and Esther & Jerry hicks, authors of The Law of Attraction.
but before all that: an april fool’s joke that went a *little* too well…
that’s right, folks: we had our husbands, jo & lu, do a fake little intro for us. it was admittedly far more entertaining than we would’ve liked, and they are reveling in it. stroke their egos a bit and tell them how funny they are.
🔮 a glimpse into this week’s stories
✨NINS IS SWEPT AWAY BY ELDERLY FIGURE SKATING COUPLE
like many elderly couples, jerry & tally have spent a lifetime loving each other, but also……figure skating together?
this week, nins is absolutely charmed by this couple’s routine unsuspectingly captured on tiktok. more than just a cute little skate sesh, it inspires us to hope that love can indeed find us.
a snippet from nins’ segment:
what jerry and tally have is something that we all want.
and yet, you look at their partnership and this life they’ve built together, and you can’t even feel envy for them. instead, you’re left just feeling inspired—that a love like this can even exist.
and as the second top comment on this tiktok says: “may this kind of love find us all.”
✨ARNS CALLS IN ABUNDANCE THROUGH THE LAW OF ATTRACTION
this week, arns’ mind is absolutely blown by The Law of Attraction by Esther & Jerry Hicks.
if you’re anything like arns, you’ve vaguely heard of it but have written it off as some weird, privileged BS to help rich white people become richer and….whiter (?). we regret to inform you that it’s a whole lot more than that.
a snippet from arns’ segment:
and now for some caveats: if we say we create our own realities, isn’t that victim-blaming? and if we just keep focusing on only positive things, isn’t that toxic positivity? and honestly, i don’t really have an answer for that.
but what i do know is that—no matter how horrifying our physical circumstances are—no one can take away our freedom or our joy, because it is our birthright. and at the end of the day, this book is telling us to seek joy and be selfish.
because if i don’t preserve my joy, how can i be a light for others?
🙉 byeeee
happy end of the season!
we’re going on spring break, but unlike the laughably short one week off implemented by our subpar education systems, we’re actually taking a decent amount of time off to rest, rejuvenate, and probably cry. who knows when we’ll come back? only time will tell!
we’ll miss you dearly—but while we’re out, feel free to send us a sob story, tell your friends about us, leave us a review on Apple or Spotify, etc. you know the drill.
that’s it. that’s all we got. we can’t wait to hear from you. ok bye love you!!!
in shambles,
nins & arns
