welcome to brb crying, a newsletter where two thirty-something teenagers talk about what made them cry. laugh along as we dive into what moves us to tears (movies! books! personal stories! tbh anything is fair game!) and why crying helps us connect with ourselves and each other. check out the pod for more.
💌 dear diary reader
in this week’s episode—028: women have minds / dog on the moon—we get into the complexity of women and the importance of dreaming like a child.
🔮 a glimpse into this week’s stories
✨NINS IS AWE OF LITTLE WOMEN’S RELEVANCE 157 YEARS LATER
this week, nins is struck by the timelessness of Louisa May Alcott’s 1868 novel and its 2019 film adaptation by Greta Gerwig. women can be lovers, yes, but what if we want to be more than that? and what if—what if—both choices are right?

and while Jo March is a revolutionary eternal character that will forever represent powerful women everywhere, this film also shows us that there’s more than one way to be strong.
and that’s why I wanted to highlight that scene from Meg—because, yes, Meg took this traditional route. Meg married and became a mother and had her family.
but that’s the whole point of this movie–women should have the choice, and there are no wrong ones. women can also choose love because that too requires bravery. and wanting a quiet life with a partner by your side is also a dream worth pursuing.
✨ARNS FINDS MAGIC IN DREAMING LIKE A CHILD
every year, the good trade newsletter features reader essays. every year, arns is wrecked. the particular essay in question: "Special Mission to the Moon" by Maria T. D'hyver.
a snippet from arns’ segment
i refuse to accept that the afterlife is as black and white as we were taught.
instead, I want to indulge in the idea that there’s a world between worlds, and we reincarnate again and again and again, and we have soulmates that we travel through multiple lifetimes with. in my mind, the mystical and the spiritual and the intuitive and the energetic are just as real as this couch we’re sitting on.
because when we’re surrounded by chaos, believing in what others deem silly is what grounds me in love and keeps me in awe. so why wouldn’t I choose to believe that? and who is anyone else to tell us that we’re wrong?

✨ SEND US YOUR CRY RECS
we’re nearing the end of our third season, y’all! we’ll be taking another break (as always, length of time = TBD. women are complex, okay???) during which we will be indulging in more cry material.
send us your recs so we can consume some content while on our break. and while you’re at it, send us a sob story, too. and tell your friends about us. oh, and leave us a review on Apple or Spotify if you haven’t yet. just those things—we’re not asking for much!
that’s it. that’s all we got. we can’t wait to hear from you. ok bye love you!!!
in shambles,
nins & arns
