welcome to brb crying, a weekly newsletter where two thirty-something teenagers talk about what made them cry. laugh along as we dive into what moves us to tears (movies! books! personal stories! tbh anything is fair game!) and why crying helps us connect with ourselves and each other. check out the pod for more.
before we dive in to today’s newsletter, we wanted to share a few thoughts (which we also shared on instagram and at the beginning of this week’s episode).
we wish we could say how excited we are to come back with season 3 of the pod, but the truth is: we’re hurting. the world is quite literally on fire, and while pain & suffering at the hands of our government is nothing new, millions more have been stripped of their rights overnight and are no longer safe to exist under this new regime. it’s bleak, made only bleaker by the fact that there’s seemingly no end in sight.
and yet—we cling onto hope. we seek solace in community and are revolutionary in our joy. we laugh and we cry and we find beauty in stories that make us feel things.
so while we wish this season were being released under brighter circumstances, we recognize our work is more important now than ever before.
we invite you to find a slice of joy in this next batch of episodes. we can’t undo this sea of hurt—but maybe we can help you resurface and catch your breath, even for a little.
we love you ❤️

our weekly newsletter format is ~changing~, focusing primarily on the week’s podcast episode (“we’re allowed to evolve, okay???” they snapped defensively). we may or may not share other updates or cry recommendations. idk!!! your guess is as good as ours ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
we’re hosting a giveaway! rate our pod 5 stars on Apple or Spotify + send us a screenshot and you’ll be entered into a drawing to win a brb crying hat (which are SOLD OUT btw!!). the winner will be chosen at the end of feb. hop to it!

excerpts from this week’s episode, ep 021: new year who dis? / great bake…
✨ARNS REDISCOVERS HERSELF IN BALI
”…the beautiful thing about opening ourselves up to new experiences is that we humble ourselves to be changed over and over again. it can be scary to realize you’re not the same as you were before this experience. what if the old parts don’t fit anymore?
but that’s growth. and we can either stay exactly as we are, and give into that fear—or we can open our hearts to this transformation and trust that in the same way we can change over and over again, we can also find ourselves over and over again.”
✨NINS INDULGES IN THE GREAT BRITISH BAKEOFF
”…what i love is that nelly, who is from slovakia, is speaking broken english. the grammar isn’t perfect, the words aren’t exact…but who cares?
because behind the words are such raw and pure wisdom that only comes from experience. you know the message and the feelings underneath. you are still connected to nelly in this moment because the heartbreak and the joy that comes with living her life are the same feelings that we experience in ours.”
that’s it. that’s all we got. we can’t wait to hear from you. ok bye love you!!!
in shambles,
nins & arns
