welcome to brb crying, a weekly newsletter where two thirty-something teenagers talk about what made them cry. laugh along as we dive into what moves us to tears (movies! books! personal stories! tbh anything is fair game!) and why crying helps us connect with ourselves and each other. check out the pod for more.
💌 dear diary reader
as of today, tr*mp is still our president-elect, and the country is still going to shit. (to be clear, it’s already shit; it’s just going to become shittier.)
if you tune into our pod, you may have noticed this week’s ep was on the somber side. instead of publishing our usual 52 minutes of BS, we decided to record a last-minute episode processing our emotions around the election.
how we currently feel:
absolutely distraught that more than half our country doesn’t give a shit about other people
disillusioned with our “democracy”
clinging onto the possibility of *another outcome* on the horizon (anyone else’s algorithms reflecting this too???)
fired up to care for our community since our government clearly refuses to
to give ourselves space to feel our feelings, we didn’t send out a newsletter last week. we also refrained from posting on socials.
but of course, our week-long respite from self-promotion just happened to coincide with us being featured on Apple Podcasts under “Comedy: New & Noteworthy”.
so. added to the (already confusing) mix of emotions: utter elation.
there’s a lot going on in our heads and our hearts: how is fascism our new reality? how likely is it that the outcome we’re hoping for will come to fruition?? how on earth did we get chosen to be featured on Apple Podcasts????
but at the end of the day, we’re just grateful to be part of a growing community…one that 1) recognizes how important it is to feel, and 2) gives us the space to do so.
and if there’s anything we’re taking away from this post-election rollercoaster, it’s hope. hope that our message is resonating. hope that good can come—change can come—if only we keep shouting our truth from the rooftops. and hope that in the face of strife, we will always, always remember to turn to each other.
